Search light function added to police cars. Only 3 police cars police2, police3 and sheriff2. If it will look like all police cars could have it, it can be in next update, it might would be too much to have it on all and i didn't do enough long time testing for bugs yet. Police is really not consistent at using this so don't be surprised if you don't see it for while
If no bugs, it can be adapted to any police car out there, just use it if you want it.
Cars have to be replaced as they have added some dummies for this and handling groups have also added some...all explained and provided in INFO file.
(all 3 cars have preserved glass crashing)
If you want change search light settings, go over heli search light section in visualsettings.dat ...i have personally extended length of beam and intensity (volumeIntensityScale)

@tall70 I saw on the video when a police search light was pointing at the protagonist's car his car cast a shadow. It looks great. Can it be done for cars headlights, to make them to cast shadows too?

Does you shared .yft & .ydt fiels contain the code for the added dummy ped?
@RYAN Only yft mesh model has added Searchlight dummy... YTD has no change but I included them so people are not asking why they missing.

Sure. Just go into game setting and set shadows to very high option & dx11. Don't tell me you've been playing with normal shadows :))

finished a chase. via all stars. mod partially works on my end. the lights are just flashing (3 or 4 times in 1 second max, then nothing for that respective car).
the only light that stayed lit a lot was from the helicopter. i understand it is not part of your mod but that light does not need another ped to shine it... try and inspire from it...
@RYAN i'm not sure if i understand you, you asking if another player is needed to operate this search light? Or if more then one AI driver has to be in cop car? Many times search light doesn't stay lit too long, it's maybe due to way how script made by R* is made for helicopter from high altitude, nothing i can do, but it should work at least similar to what i have on movie preview, many times light shines longer then on my movie. Does your ever come on like it?
@Slash_Alex I don't remember now how car headlight cast shadows, i thought they do for AI and player, walking on front of them, i'll check it out...curious my self now

The light comes on, but it flashes fast 3-4 times in a second then nothing

Sorry for my bad graphics, i do not play with MSAA on. it is fully disabled.

@RYAN It seems to work, when it flashes it does make beam, but truth is you do have to have some distance, they doing it best during chase with distance. I had to put this on 5 police vehicles to get it see often. Try to get chased on interstate around map, and put it on at least those 3 police cars i have in upload...in my game i have it now only on FBI black Granger, after update i didn't put them all in and even on that single one it works pretty nice....I'm not really sure if you still have some bug with that
^ bottom line it's R* script made for helicopter, so it will not be perfect for car...hopefully you'll get it going better.

after you applied the mod in the handling file, pls tell me: for each vehicle (police car) do you have 1 line or 2 of
" <Item type="NULL" /> "
typed before:
" </SubHandlingData>
</Item> " w/o the " "
And another question: Do you have RDE3 inserted?
@RYAN Just 1, but to make this simple, you only need "VEHICLE_WEAPON_SEARCHLIGHT" in 1st uWeaponHash line, that's it.
I had to research what RDE3 is, i don't have that mod, but I customized dispatch file long time ago, mostly adding helicopters to mix.

i do not know what file in gta5 gives the intelligence to police peds, maybe even the dispatch file might have something to do with the "behavior" of police peds & how cars are spawned and move during chases, i might be wrong, but your code is not fully compatible with the changes the RDE3 bring.
Believe me, your mod is very nice, but the chases i got in RDE 3 since the 2.2.0(&up) was applied are way better than the stock ones.
Regretfully, i shall revert the changes because those flashes are just annoying and tiresome
@RYAN sometimes i get police car search light beam from behind for several seconds, maybe there is some kind of interference from settings in another mod, sorry to hear that

all i can say now is that i strongly recomend you to try the Realism mod by Delapidated!
You will see a great improvement in police chases, from dispatch of police enforcement depending on what zone of map you are too cars behavior during chases, randomized ped AI and more realistic star based heat levels, etc
Try it and maybe you will find what is the interference with the largest file-overwriting mod i have instaled: RDE; the others are just .asi scripts and weather and environment/graphics changers that have nothing to do with light beams.
I truly recommend others your mod, it's very good, R* should of put it as default for police. maybe in the, now, long awaited, gta6.
i will regularly check your mod in the future for a stable SL4PC VERSION 2 !!
@RYAN i know i liked car search light in Watch Dogs, i'll try those, but i have police AIs modded too, i know i had changed some police ped search timers and distances...also i have added police women, i belive i decreased police shooting accuracy, added more patrols on interstate, popcycle has also changed police spawning for individual areas, script changing details how police rams from behind in chases, and another for offense by speeding. It's lots of fun
When is it updated?
Can you tell me the visual settings u added? There is another spotlight mode and I'd like to to use the same visual effects. Thanks/.
