hi @Dilapidated, I'm dropping you a quick line in regards to your RDE4 release ideas. I'm not a modder but I am a game design enthusiast. To me the most critical and important part of RDE is its modified Arrest Warrant mod, a brilliant continuation of Angry Amoeba's (symbiote) original GTA4 mod. Your (EDDLM's etc.) work has improved on mostly everything but few important elements of that incredible old mod and I'd like to suggest you push it just a little further in that direction by expanding with the following rules:
- Previous wanted level (let's say 4 stars of your active arrest warrant) should NOT magically be back the moment you get a star for some new crime (say: punching someone). It should ONLY become 4 stars again the moment a cop physically gets to the point of recognising your face and linking it to the previous crime.
This makes a MASSIVE difference to gameplay fun and immersion.
- further to that you should consider incorporating into the Arrest Warrant functionalities of mods such as 'grand theft auto', 'felonies' and 'cops:back on the beat' which together allow for the most incredible crime/drive/stealth sandbox GTA can afford but are not fully finetuned together.
In short, those would be about:
- having cop patrols on streets.
- allowing cops to notice crimes such as: speeding, driving on wrong side of the road, hitting peds, hitting cars (not running red light though - that would be too restrictive gameplay-wise)
- allowing a chance of not being recognised by patrolling cops when they pass you by on the road as IRL.
- allowing turning headlights off + parking during night to significantly lower police ability to see you (like in Drive movie)
- allowing civilians to Line-of-sight witness and call-in car thefts, as well as owners to report cars gone missing (with a random chance of it being reported and after a much longer time for it to happen than a witness call). Those could be further randomised by stages such as 'car make reported', 'paint colour reported', 'licence plates reported' - to build up tension and increasing changes of a cop patrol to recognise you.
You'd done a brilliant job in restoring this mod to full usability, I hope you can push it further to make it into an ultimate Heat/Drive crime sim sandbox. God speed! :)
